Moraine Theory of Change
The last year we have been working on crystallising our Theory of Change. Since we work on various levels, which are all operating with a slightly different theory of change, we thought it is important to start with a universal Theory Of Change.
The Moraine: Our Theory of Change
We live in a world that moves too fast to listen. Disconnected from the land, from material things made by hand, and from the stories that tell us who we are, many people feel unmoored, unsure how to contribute meaningfully to a world that needs them.
We believe that when people slow down, make something with their hands, and share space with others in a landscape shaped by deep time, something fundamental shifts. They begin to listen differently, to our surroundings, to each other, to themselves.
At The Moraine, we create the conditions for that shift. Through four interconnected spaces, the House of Wood, the House of Borders, the House of Regeneration, and the House of Glass, we offer workshops, residencies, and gatherings that bring together makers, artists, growers, and dreamers. Here, ancient skills are passed on, stories around identity are explored with curiosity, and the regenerative intelligence of the natural world becomes a living teacher.
The change we seek is not dramatic or sudden. It grows, like the moraine itself, slowly and with force. People leave carrying new skills, new stories, and a renewed sense of belonging, to a place, to a community, to the wider web of life. They carry that sensibility back into their homes, their work, their neighborhoods.
Over time, we believe that places like The Moraine create a world where humans and ecosystems learn to grow together again, where craftsmanship is a form of care, where borders become places of encounter rather than division, and where regeneration is not a concept but a daily practice.
